Easter 2018

Happy (belated) Easter everyone! I hope your family time was awesome. I thought I would share some photos and tricks we used to dye our eggs this year, we used a few.

The three dye options we used.

The three dye options we used.

This first one is “small hand friendly”. We used Ziploc bags, and added uncooked rice, food coloring and a splash of warm water. Then you put the egg in, seal it and then roll it around. It doesn’t produce very bright colors but it is virtually mess free as far as kids go.

The next two were kits we purchased from a local store. One is basic dye in cups mixed with vinegar. If you don't want to buy the kit, this would also work with food coloring and vinegar. We used whisks to keep it mess free- just spread the tines and place egg inside the whisk. Then dip away!

The last one was a kit that came with sponges and a tray. When you put the dye on the sponges and rolled the egg around the tray it tapped the dye all around the egg, making our shiny “northern lights” eggs.  This would also work with dye and sponge corners, you can blot the different dyes on there manually and get the same look in the end.

All in all, we dyed eggs and hung out with our family and friends, and that's what Easter is about. I hope you enjoyed my photos, and maybe you found a new technique to try next year!!

Until next time,
