Travel Post | Barcelona, Spain

Where to start?? Barcelona is so rich with colors and architecture. I have been twice now, and I think that I still need way more time. Every where you go there is a beautiful mix of old, new, art, culture, religion... its just beautiful. Ill just jump right into it then...

Our first night in Barcelona was a nice easy night, we just explored the beach.

Our first night in Barcelona was a nice easy night, we just explored the beach.

First, I wanted to talk about where we stayed because it was super cute and quirky. From the outside you would have no idea that it was  a whole house behind this industrial type, graffiti covered door.  The bottom floor was mainly a landing and storage. The middle floor was the living space, with a sitting area, Foosball table, large kitchen table, and a few bathrooms - this is where we all met up and spent some of our free time. The top floor was where the rooms were, bunk beds in some, twin beds in others, as well as the 4 shower rooms and bathrooms.

(The video was sped up to keep the video on the shorter side.)

For all of us to stay there for the nights we were there, it worked so perfect. I mean how else do you house 19 people on a tight budget.

Our second day was a little rainy, but that did not stop us. We explored the busier parts of the city…. But as always.. COFFEE FIRST.

James and I stopped at this small espresso shop we saw on our way to the beach on the first night.

It just so happened that this little shop was a training center for ECQLogic espresso machines. Here’s the thing, espresso is an art in Spain, so getting to watch the instructor craft a quick little Espresso & Foam was really something else. It truly is amazing, and it tastes amazing of course.

After coffee, we met back up with our group!

Once we found them again, we walked through the town, visiting a small market and a courtyard that was just full of pigeons. I just enjoyed the some what rainy day in Barcelona- it was warm but not too hot, and not too cool either.

One of the biggest attractions to Barcelona is the famous Sagrada Familia, and we of course could not miss it. I had previously visited the Segrada Famila, but that was a few years ago - this trip was interesting because of how much work had been done in those passing years.

The 19th of March of 2017 was the 135th anniversary of the laying of the cornerstone of the Temple. Currently, 70% of the Basilica is finished and we are working on building the six central towers.

In 2017, work on the towers of the evangelists and the Virgin Mary has continued at a good pace after beginning last December with prestressed stone panels that are made at the workshop in Galera. The towers follow the architectural model of the sacristy, which Gaudí left a plaster model of.

Of course, the main reason to be in Barcelona is this is where the Disney Magic docks for the westbound Transatlantic cruise. Our last day in the city was focused on getting ourselves to the ship dock. Check out this timelapse of our trip.
